JACKSONVILLE -- A second half surge by FGCU proved costly to the North Florida women's soccer in a 4-0 loss on Sunday at Hodges Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- FGCU had some early chances but were unable to get on the scoreboard until the 31st minute when a long outlet pass set up a lofting ball over the UNF backline that ASUN leading scorer Evdokia Popandivnova tracked down and slid past Osprey keeper Rhiannon Conelley for the early lead
- Neither team would notch another tally in the first half as the Eagles held a 1-0 halftime lead
- North Florida created several solid chances early in the second half but were unable to connect on the finishing shot
- In the 64th minute, the Eagles got a second goal when a chipped service into the box resulted in a lofted header that snuck in under the crossbar
- FGCU added a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes to secure the win and remain undefeated on the year

- Ospreys had set an new program record for the Division I era having gone unbeaten in six straight matches before today
- Sophomore goalkeeper Rhiannon Conelley notched four saves on the day
- UNF finished with five shots, getting two each from Thais Reiss and Kendra Hoffman

CONFER COMMENTS
"FGCU is a very good team and we knew it was going to be a battle. We had a game plan that was working and thought we frustrated them a bit. We held them to three shots in the second half, but unfortunately those shots went in. It's tough to stay in a game when that happens. We will regroup and focus on next weekend which will be another tough two games. We like that we will be playing at home. This team has come a long way since the start of the season and had the longest unbeaten streak in the program's Division I era. Our girls responded well after the 0-3 start and I know they will be ready for this weekend." - Head coach Robin Confer

UP NEXT
North Florida closes out the home portion of its 2018 ledger with a final two-match home stand next weekend hosting NJIT (Friday) and Kennesaw State (Sunday). The Ospreys will recognize and honor their senior class prior to Friday's kickoff.
