HOW IT HAPPENED
- After 10 minutes of scoreless extra time, the Ospreys poured on the pressure in the second overtime. It paid off in messy play by Jacksonville that allowed for free kicks from North Florida.
- In the 106th minute, Colubiale corralled the ball around a Dolphin defender and sent home an opposite-foot goal to the upper right corner for the game-winner.
- Early in the second 10 minutes, Reiss bent the ball from the right corner of the field, but the ball dinged off the crossbar.
- To get to the extra periods, Colubiale sent a ball up to Reiss who beat two Jacksonville defender and sent home the tying goal into the lower right corner.
- Jacksonville struck first shortly before the first half ended when a corner kick from De'Entremont bounced off of Rhiannon Conelley before Zoe Zinis got the rebound to give the home team a 1-0 advantage.
- The Dolphins tried to end the game with less than two minutes to play, Sope Akindoju found D'Entremont inside the Ospreys' box, but she sailed the shot home to push the game into extra time.
CONFER'S CORNER
"It has been incredible all season long. I told them - 'There is something special about this team'. Every time we challenge this team they rise to the occasion. This group is special. They believe we can win. They believe we can be successful. They have done the work over the summer and everything we have thrown at them - they have responded. Krista had pure gut and fight. She got stuck on tackle and then won the ball. She then played the ball to Thais and set up the goal. Her second one was just pure grit. That is what we talk about. That fight and that hunger. It was a great left-footed strike.
I am super proud of this group and I am just excited for them. It wasn't pretty at times, we made a few mistakes. We can't change the past but it is how you react moving forward. That is what we said at halftime. They responded and did awesome. The entire bench was great tonight, the fans that came across town to cheer us on were awesome. It's a special moment for them and I want them to really enjoy it for tonight and tomorrow, but then it is back to work on Monday.
