THE SHORT STORY
Bradley used some stellar pitching from Cole Cook to edge North Florida 4-2 to salvage one game from the weekend's three game series at Harmon Stadium.

Cook, with his fourth win of the season, has now won more than half of the Brave's total of six victories. Cook went 8.1 innings, giving up just six hits to Osprey batsmen, while walking only two in the Bradley triumph.

UNF did capture the weekend series two games to one, upping their overall season record to 14-7 as we reach the 1/3 juncture of the 2017 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After UNF starting pitcher Brad Depperman struck out the side in the opening inning, Bradley broke the ice in the second inning.  Anthony Ivelia led off the frame with a double, moved to third on a base hit from Jean-Francois Garon, and scored the game's first run on a sacrifice fly from Andy Shadid.
- A 12 pitch at-bat from Bradley's Christian Dominguez was the turning point for the Braves' two run rally in inning number four. Dominguez finally drew a walk on Depperman's 12th pitch to load the bases with two outs.  Luke Shadid, who had struck out in his two earlier at-bats against Depperman, then had the big hit of the game delivering a 2-RBI single to stretch the Bradley lead to 3-0.
- The Ospreys trimmed the deficit to 3-1 in their half of the fourth inning.  Chris Thibideau ripped a drive off the glove of the Braves third baseman for a double and would eventually score on Chris Berry's solid two-out single to right field.
- Tyler Dupont, who came on in relief of Depperman to close out the fourth inning, kept the game close in his 3.2 innings of work.  The only run given up by the Osprey southpaw was a run manufactured by Bradley's Luke Shadid in the seventh inning.  Shadid singled, stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and then scored Bradley's final run of the game on a sacrifice fly from Brendan Daugherty, BU's second of the game.
- The Osprey's ran themselves out of a possible big inning in home half of the 6th.  A once promising start, with Patrick Ervin reaching on a swinging bunt and advancing to second on an overthrow to first base, did not end well for the Ospreys.  Thibideau's sacrifice bunt attempt appeared to move Ervin to third base with no outs.  However, Ervin's head first slide, that at first evaded the tag of the Braves third sacker, carried him just past the bag where he was tagged out for the first out.  Thibideau was then declared out on a very close play at second base when he attempted to move into scoring position on a short passed ball.

- Yahir Gurrola mashed a solo home run into the teeth of a strong wind in the eighth inning, narrowing the gap to 4-2, but the Ospreys were only able to get one more runner aboard, a walk to Christian Diaz over the final two innings.
- Eric Scheuermann came on in relief of Cook following the Diaz walk in the ninth inning and retired the final two Ospreys.

PARTING SHOTS
- It's not often in baseball where one's lead off hitter is also your top RBI producer, but that's the case for North Florida's Yahir Gurrola, who tops the squad with 20 runs driven in this seaon. He also paces the team with 27 runs scored. Half of Gurrola's 34 base hits on the season have been of the extra base variety with his ASUN leading 11 doubles, 4 home runs and 2 triples.
- UNF hitters only struck out a total of 6 times during the three game set versus Bradley, with 4 of those Ks taking place in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Braves.
- Despite the loss on Sunday, the Osprey faithful can be heartened with some solid relief pitching from Dupont, Anthony Delaney, and Eddie Miller who gave up only one run over the final 5.1 innings.

WHAT'S NEXT
The upcoming week will be one of busiest of the season for UNF.  The Ospreys travel to Tampa on Tuesday to play South Florida before returning to Harmon Stadium for four home games beginning with a 5:00 PM start Wednesday against Savannah State.  North Florida will then host perennial baseball power Dallas Baptist in a three game weekend series Friday-Sunday.
