JACKSONVILLE - After a strong first quarter, a second quarter slump hurt North Florida women's basketball as College of Charleston took the lead and never looked back as the Cougars won, 73-69, on Friday evening at UNF Arena.

OPENING TIP

• Senior Tesh Hanson had a game-high 17 points with nine coming at the line, while also adding six rebounds and two assists.
• Classmate Keonna Farmer was just behind with 16 points and missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Eight of Farmer's points came from the line as she was perfect.

First Half Trends

• The teams kept it close in the early goings of the game before North Florida jumped out to a 21-11 lead on a Hadley Kiefer three-pointer to close the first half.
• College of Charleston got as close as 13-9, but then UNF closed the quarter on an 8-2 run.
• In the second quarter, the Ospreys scored to take a 23-11 lead, its biggest of the game on a layin from Hanson, but it was short lived as the Cougars went on a 14-0 run to take the lead at 6:15.
• UNF got as close as one, but it never got past the CofC lead as the visitors owned a 37-29 lead at the break.

Second Half Trends

• North Florida went on a 10-5 run to open the third to get within two, but the Cougars answered back with an 8-1 run of their own to lead 48-39 with 4:10 left in the frame.
• UNF whittled the lead back down to 48-46 on a pair of makes from Hanson, but back-to-back buckets from CofC gave it a 52-46 lead heading into the final stanza.
• College of Charleston took a 10-point lead on a three-pointer from Cailin Dorsey before an Osprey 12-3 run brought the score to 61-60 with 2:52 to play.
• From there the teams traded baskets and free throws, but North Florida could not string together a successful stretch to get past the Cougars.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

• North Florida went 23-for-31 from the line, marking the third time this season UNF has made 20 or more free throws and the fourth time taking more than 20.
• College of Charleston shot 43.5 percent from the field, while the Ospreys hit just 34.5 percent.
• It was even off the glass with 39 rebounds each, but UNF capitalized on 14 offensive boards leading to 22 second chance points.
• Four players scored in double figures for the Cougars led by Darien Huff with 15 points, while Tanisha Brown had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
