Farmer Leads Ospreys in Loss at Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Senior Keonna Farmer led the North Florida women's basketball team in scoring as the Ospreys fell to No. 14/18 Florida State, 109-51, on Friday evening at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

The Short Story: North Florida stayed close to the nationally-ranked team in the first quarter before Florida State got on a roll in the second frame and never looked back en route to its eighth straight win against the Ospreys.

First Half Trends
  • Junior Ty Purifoy scored the first basket of the season to give the team its only tie of the game at 8:53.
  • Florida State took control of the game, but by the first media timeout, both teams went without a field goal for more than two minutes with the home team leading, 13-4 at the break.
  • Ospreys held FSU to 1-for-9 in the final four minutes of the first quarter, but Florida State held the 18-6 lead after the first 10.
  • The visitors whittled the score to 18-8 on a basket from Keonna Farmer, but it was short lived as the Seminoles hit three straight triples to go on an 18-2 run.
  • Florida State eventually took its biggest lead on a three-pointer from Imani Wright to give the home team a 43-16 lead at the break.
  • North Florida was held without a three-pointer in the opening 20 minutes and also did not go to the line for free throws.
Second Half Trends
  • Florida State came out firing in the third quarter and never looked back. The Seminoles shot a game-best 60.9 percent from the floor in the frame.
  • The Ospreys shot their best from the floor in the final quarter with a 41 percent clip.

North Florida returns home to play in its annual Elementary School Day on Monday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. against Webber. After their opening home game, the Ospreys do not return back to Jacksonville until November 30.
