KENNESAW, Ga. - No. 4 Kennesaw State advanced in the ASUN Conference Championship as it defeated No. 5 North Florida women's soccer Sunday afternoon 4-3 in penalty kicks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- To start the match, both squads had several opportunities and UNF led 5-1 after the first 45 minutes.
- The second half resulted in a stalemate, as neither team could find the back of the net.
- The Ospreys continued to hold the advantage in total shots with 9-5 over the Owls.
- After regulation, the match moved into golden goal overtime and neither team found the net forcing a shootout.
- Freshman goalkeeper Tiffany Sornpao stopped Sarah Wasser's first penalty kick attempt to give the Owls the edge.
- Freshman Rhiannon Conelley came up with a big save to knot the score at 3-all, but Sornpao came up with the save on the Ospreys' next attempt giving the Owls the chance to take the match.
- KSU's Carly Pressgrove stepped up to the line and converted a goal to give the 4-3 advantage to Kennesaw State.
