NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Second seeded North Florida (38-17) cruised past No. 5 FGCU (24-31) with a 12-6 victory in the opening round game of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament. The Ospreys will move on to play Lipscomb Thursday at 8:00 p.m. EST.

The Ospreys had the game in hand early, scoring the first 10 runs of the game. The Ospreys racked up 16 hits, the seventh-straight game in which they have collected 10 or more hits. The decisive blow came in the bottom of the second when the Ospreys plated five runs to open up a 6-0 advantage. It marked the 14th time this season the Ospreys have scored five or more runs in an inning.

Redshirt sophomore Bubba Olivera totaled three hits for the second-straight game. After missing a home run by inches in the bottom of the second, the second baseman left no doubt in his next at bat, clearing the left field wall for his first career home run. He went 3-for-4 with a game-high, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Six of the nine Osprey hitters put forth multi-hit games including the top three batters in the lineup. The trio of Kyle Brooks, Dakota Higdon and Keith Skinner combined for six hits, four runs scored and three RBIs. Brooks helped the set the tone early with a double to start the game. Dakota Higdon and Keith Skinner each followed with hits of their own in the bottom of the first to give the Ospreys an early 1-0 lead. North Florida has scored in the first inning in 23 games this season in which they hold a record of 21-2.

Brooks doubled in his first two trips to the plate and scored two runs in a 2-for-5 day. Higdon continued his hot hitting and went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. The senior has 10 hits in his last four games. Skinner, who leads the league in batting average (.395) and on-base percentage (.479) hit his team-leading 16th double of the year to plate the first Osprey run and finished the day 2-for-5.

Senior Corbin Olmstead capped off the big five-run rally in the second with his 12th home run of the year. The two-run shot to left field was his 35th of his career, one shy of matching the program's all-time mark. He scored a game-high three runs and and now has a career high 47 for the season. He has scored a run in each of his last seven games.

Starting pitcher Bryan Baker was given all the run support he could imagine and pitched well for his sixth victory of the season. He only threw 71 pitches in 5.2 innings and struck out a pair. At one point he sat down nine straight batters and retired 11 of the final 12 batters he faced. The win was his 14th of his career, tied for the third most in the program's D-1 era (2006-present).

Rounding out the Osprey multi-hit performers were freshman Chris Berry and junior Chris Thibideau. Berry was 2-for-4 with his seventh double of the year while Thibideau went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

The Ospreys have now won three-straight games against the Eagles and improve to 3-1 against FGGU in the postseason.

North Florida will move on to play the winner of tonight's 3/4 matchup of Jacksonville and Lipscomb at 8:00 p.m. EST.
