Box Score (PDF)KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State (11-17, 2-0 A-Sun) scored early and often in a 10-4 win in the middle game of a three-game set with North Florida (16-12, 0-2 A-Sun). The Owls compiled 14 hits and five players put forth multiple-hit efforts for the Owls.
The Ospreys spotted Kennesaw State a 6-0 lead to start the game, including a five-run second inning. The Owls sent 11 batters to the plate in their second turn at the plate and scored five runs on five hits all with two outs. The Owls never relinquished the lead from that point forward.
Kennesaw got another solid starting pitching effort, this time from right-hander Gabe Friese. The junior pitched into the seventh inning and struck out seven batters while walking only one. He threw 100 pitches and improved to 3-1 on the year.
The Ospreys doubled their hit total from yesterday with eight base knocks. Six of them came off the bats of
Corbin Olmstead and
Keith Skinner. Olmstead extended his reached base streak to 21 games and collected his team-best 12
th multiple hit game of the year. He finished the day 3-for-4 with this 35
th RBI of the year. Skinner registered his ninth multiple hit game and is now batting a team-best .XXX. He went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
A season-high seven pitchers toed the rubber for the Ospreys on the day. Sophomore
Adam Polansky tossed 3.2 innings of relief and blanked the Owls for two innings after the six unanswered to start the game. Polansky struck out three batters in his longest outing of his Osprey career.
The series loss is the first since the opening set against FGCU last season. North Florida has now dropped eight straight road games to Kennesaw State.
The Ospreys will try and avoid the sweep in a Sunday afternoon contest at Stillwell Stadium. Lefty
Austin Drury (1-0) will get the nod on the hill and he will be opposed by right-hander A.J. Moore (1-2).
