PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The No. 37-ranked North Florida men's golf team welcomes a field of 15 teams to Sawgrass Country Club for the 25th edition of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational (The Hayt) beginning Friday.
The Hayt, which is annually recognized as one of the top collegiate golf tournaments in the country, is scheduled to tee off on the East and West Courses at Sawgrass CC starting at 9 a.m. The course will play a par 72 over a 6,966-yard layout.Â
The tournament field features eight squads currently ranked in the Top 50 of Golfstat's Collegiate rankings including a pair of Top 20 teams - No. 13 Oklahoma State and No. 23 UCLA. Six players in the field are listed among Golfstat's Top 100 individuals, led by UCLA senior Jonathan Garrick at No. 19.
"We are looking forward to another great Hayt week," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "The guys have worked hard and are ready to go. We are excited about having the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the country at our home course."
North Florida's lineup is led by senior Taylor Hancock, who is joined by sophomore Dillon Woods and a trio of freshman performers, Andrew Alligood, Phillip Knowles and Travis Trace. Alligood has posted Top 20 finishes in three straight events including a career best 8th in last weekend's Gator Invitational. Five other UNF players will also compete in the event as individuals including: Austin Padova, Joe Stepnes, Jack Comstock, Osten Waite and Jordan Batchelor.
The Ospreys will tee off Friday from Hole 1 starting at 9:45 a.m. UNF will be paired with Oklahoma State and UCLA in the opening round.
