Five Players Reach Double Digits in Loss to Morehead State

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Despite five players in double figures, it was a tale of one quarter and three completely different ones after that as North Florida women's basketball dropped an 84-65 decision to Morehead State on Tuesday evening at UNF Arena.

The Short Story: After a strong opening quarter, UNF was hampered by miscues as it totaled 25 turnovers that Morehead State turned into 35 points and gave the visitors the momentum they needed to take the game.

OPENING TIP
- Five players scored in double figures for the third time this season with Simone Brown leading with 15 points.
- Tesh Hanson tallied her second career double-double as she recorded 12 points and a season-best 15 rebounds for the Ospreys.
- Claire Ioannidis, Karrah Johnson and Sierra Shepherd added 10 points each.
- Maiya Rumph grabbed 10 rebounds including four offensive boards.
- The 25 turnovers match the second highest for UNF, while the 35 points for the Eagles are a season-high against the Ospreys.
- Aaliyah Wells totaled a game-high 25 points including 21 in the first half. Darianne Seward also added 16, while two others reached double figures.

1st Half Reflections
- Brown opened the game with a three before the visitors answered with the same on the other end. After trading baskets once more, it was the home team's advantage for the remainder of the opening quarter, 23-16.
- The Ospreys had three straight turnovers to open the second frame and Morehead State went on an 8-0 run to lead 24-23.
- Morehead had 15 points off of UNF's seven turnovers as the Eagles outscored UNF 21-11 in the second. 
- UNF shot just 18 percent from long range in the opening half, while Morehead shot 33 percent with all of the treys coming from Wells.
- North Florida's 13 miscues led to 19 points for the visitors.

-  In the third, the game saw two lead changes and three tie scores with the last one coming at 51-all on a triple from Simone Brown
- UNF kept it close but the Eagles held a 55-51 edge after three.

- MSU outshot the Ospreys 72 percent to UNF's 40. The biggest difference was at the line as the visitors went 13-for-14 down the stretch.

- Brown's four treys are a season-high for the redshirt junior. She also dished out four assists and picked up three steals.
- It was the first home loss for UNF this season.
- The Ospreys are 0-5 this season when trailing at the half.
- UNF outrebounded its opponent for the sixth time this season. It's 46 boards are third highest for the season.
- Hanson also recorded a career-high four blocks, leading the team to the second best in stops with six.
