Women's Basketball Hosts Webber for Elementary School Day

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball returns home to play Webber on Friday at 11 a.m. for the annual Elementary School Day. Admission to the game is free for all.

The Ospreys look to bounce back from a loss at USF on Tuesday. Last year, Webber defeated UNF on Elementary Day and the Ospreys look to get back to their winning ways against the Warriors.

Through the first two games, Claire Ioannidis and Tesh Hanson have led the team with double--figure scoring opportunities.

#FlyHigh NOTES
- Today marks third meeting of the two teams and the second straight time.
- Webber got the best of UNF last season 72-60 on elementary day as well.
- UNF won the previous two meetings in 1992 and 1999 when the Ospreys were Division II.
- For the second straight season, UNF has opened its season with a win.
- Redshirt junior Tesh Hanson was tabbed the ASUN Newcomer of the Week after tallying her first career double-double against FAMU with 18 pts and 11 reb.
- Senior Claire Ioannidis recorded her 8th career 20+ point game vs. FAMU.
- The Ospreys return 84% of their scoring from 2015-16.
- UNF is playing three games in six days (Webber, FAU, Xavier) and then has back-to-back games after Thanksgiving.
- Turnovers and fouls have hurt UNF in its first 2 games with the team totalling 55 fouls and 36 turnovers thus far.

ON THIS DAY
North Florida is 6-2 on this date in series history and last played in 2014 against Edward Waters for a 62-57 win.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- Currently 3-4 on the season and riding a two-game win streak.
- Played ASUN foe Stetson where the Hatters won, 92-54 on Nov. 11 in the Hatters season opener.
- Amber Ferguson currently leads the team with 11.0 points per game, while Quanthavia Stalworth is second with 10.8 ppg.
- Stalworth is also leading off the glass with 7.7 boards per contest.
- Jakia Davis has a team-best 54.5 shooting percentage, while Victoria Baggett is leading the team with seven treys.
- Breyonna Reed creates plays for her teammates with a squad-high 19 helpers.
- As a team the Warriors are being outshot 40 to 36 percent.

LONG RANGE STREAKING
The Ospreys have made at least one 3-pointer in 34 consecutive games dating back to 2/25/15 when FGCU held them without a longball (0-8).

NEW FACES
The Ospreys added depth in the offseason with the addition of six players to its roster. HANSON & Simone Brown come off of a season out due to transfer rules, while Jaiveonna Norris joins UNF after a successful junior college career. Freshmen Kennya Simms, Adrienne Jackson and Kirsten Clement wrap up the newbies.

1ST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
After being named one of the three 2015-16 ASUN Newcomers of the Year, Claire Ioannidis was the first Osprey to garner the honor.

SINGLE SEASON SUCCESS
Last season, Claire Ioannidis became the 8th player in school history to record 400 points in a season. She took the 5th place with 454.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Ospreys have a quick turnaround against FAU on Sunday at 1 p.m.
