@OspreyWBB Heads North Before the Storm to Play NJIT

Game moved to Friday

NEWARK, N.J. - North Florida women's basketball heads north to brave the New Jersey winter as it takes on Atlantic Sun newcomer NJIT on Friday at 7 p.m. at Fleisher Athletic Center. The game was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, but due to the winter storm that will be hitting the northeast, the A-Sun allowed the contest to be moved.

SNAPPED!
The Ospreys (5-13) snapped a six-game losing streak against Lipscomb on Monday. UNF had its best outing from the floor, shooting at a 54 percent clip and had four players in double figures for the fourth time this season.

UNF ranks 36th out of 344 teams with 129 three-point field goals made.

DOUBLE UP
Senior Kadesia Johnson recorded back-to-back double-doubles against Kennesaw and Lipscomb. The guard also had two consecutive ones at Georgia State and against Trinity Baptist.

ON THIS DAY
UNF is 1-4 on January 23, last playing Stetson in 2014. The lone victory comes from Division II days when the Ospreys beat USC Aiken.

SHOOT THE LONG BALL
The Ospreys have made at least one three-pointer in 19 consecutive games dating back to last season. FGCU held UNF without a triple on 2/25/15.

Junior Claire Ioannidis ranks 21st in the country with 47 three-point baskets made. She is also 15th in 3PT FG attempts.

NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP
Sophomore Sierra Shepherd ranks among the top defensive players in the A-Sun. She is third in assists per game (3.9) and 2.1 steals per contest.

SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
The teams have met once before in the beginning days of Division I for UNF. NJIT is the newest member of the Atlantic Sun and is the furthest north. The team is led by Leah Horton in points and rebounds per game as well as shooting percentage. 

RUN LIKE YOU STOLE IT
Senior Kadesia Johnson grabbed up a career-high four steals against Kennesaw State (1/16).

CRASH THE GLASS
Sophomore Maiya Rumph snapped a 33-game streak of grabbing at least one board. She was unable to record a rebound against Jacksonville on 1/9/2016.

DISH IT
Claire Ioannidis passed out a career-high eight helpers in the victory against Lipscomb.

COMING UP
North Florida travels back south to USC Upstate on Monday, Jan. 25 for a 7 p.m. tip. USC Upstate is currently 2-1 in A-Sun play and hosts Jacksonville on Saturday.
