DeLand, Fla. – In a five-inning matchup shortened by rain, the North Florida softball team prevailed with a 1-0 win over conference foe Stetson Wednesday in DeLand, Fla.
The Ospreys (26-23, 8-8) will play the scheduled second game of the doubleheader as the first game of a doubleheader with the Hatters next Wednesday in DeLand.
North Florida put their only hits and runs on the board in the top of the fourth inning, when junior
Shelby Duncan first got on with a double to the left field wall and was scored on an RBI single by freshman
Alex Arciola.
The game was delayed a total of nearly an hour and a half in two separate lightning delays, but was eventually called after the top of the sixth inning due to rain.
Senior
Kaylie Wallace earned the win for the Ospreys in the circle, throwing five innings and allowing four hits while striking out two.
The Ospreys are back home this Saturday and Sunday as they host Jacksonville in the River City Rumble at the UNF Softball Complex.
