JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida (9-8) scored in all but two turns at the plate today in an 11-2 victory over Fairfield (0-3) this afternoon at Harmon Stadium. The Ospreys completed the three-game, series sweep and now have won five straight against the Stags.

Redshirt sophomore Donnie Dewees served as the offensive sparkplug again for the Ospreys, scoring four runs and driving in another three. He hit his second home run of the spring and also collected his Atlantic Sun leading, fifth triple of the year. He managed to swipe two bases on the day and now leads the team with eight on the season.

Catcher Keith Skinner was also a tough out in the ninth win of the year and finished the day 4-for-5 recorded his 11th RBI in 12 starts. Senior Trent Higginbothem upped his season batting average to .400 with a 3-for-5 effort at the plate. He scored twice and drove in two runs.

UNF starting pitcher Bryan Baker had his best outing of the season, tossing five innings of five hit baseball. He allowed only one earned run and struck out three in his first win of the season. Junior Corbin Olmstead came on in relief and once again was dominant. In two innings he struck out three batters and allowed only one base runner. In 11 innings pitched, he has yet to yield an earned run and is second on the team with 16 strikeouts.

Freshman Conner Andrews gave up an unearned run in the eighth and Alex Smith sealed the deal in the ninth striking out two in his sixth appearance.

North Florida never trailed in the contest and jumped out to a 4-1 advantage. Dewees' solo shot in the bottom of the fifth gave the Ospreys a four run advantage before breaking the game open in the sixth. The Ospreys used five-run innings in each of the first two games of the series and today was no different. Senior Ryan Roberson ignited the rally, legging out his first career triple that scored Nick Karmeris. A triple by Dewees and an RBI single by Higginbothem capped the frame, giving the Ospreys a 10-1 advantage.

The three-game series is the first three-game sweep since Apr. 28, 2013 when the Ospreys took all three against cross-town rival Jacksonville, a span of 68 games.

The Ospreys will be on the road on Wednesday afternoon to take on Georgia Southern. It will be the second time the Ospreys and Eagles meet this season. North Florida pulled off a 5-4 victory in the bottom of the 9th inning back on Feb. 25 in Jacksonville.
