SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The North Florida softball team dropped the series finale 7-0 to conference foe USC Upstate Sunday at Cyrill Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.
The Ospreys (21-18, 3-6 A-Sun) struggled to package hits together and fell in their sixth straight contest.
The Spartans (25-6, 8-1 A-Sun) first got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, picking up where they left off yesterday with a solo shot over the center-field fence for a 1-0 lead. They pushed the lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth with a RBI single and a two-run homer.
Upstate put their final three runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth, first off of a one-run home run to center field, followed by two RBI singles.
Junior
Stacy McClelland led the lineup for the Ospreys, she notched all three of North Florida's hits in her three at-bats.
The Ospreys are back in action next week when they travel to Gainesville, Fla. for a mid-week matchup with the third-ranked Gators Wednesday at 6:05. They then host Northern Kentucky in a three-game series with a doubleheader Friday afternoon and a single game matchup on Saturday.
