DUNELLON, Fla. -- The North Florida women's golf team moved into a tie for ninth after carding a second round 299 on Monday in the Ocala Spring Invitational at Juliette Falls Golf Resort.
The Ospreys improved eight shots with their day two performance, ending the round tied with Stephen F. Austin at 606. Junior Emelie Alpe continued to pace the UNF lineup finishing with a 1-over 73 for a two-day tally of 148 (T-10th).
Junior Kelly Aylwin joined Alpe in the Top 20 shooting a 2-over 74 to post a 36-hole total of 150, which is tied for 17th. Junior Belinda George and sophomore Lauren Coe both netted rounds of 76 on Tuesday to end the day tied for 36th (153) and 54th (156), respectively. Sophomore Megan Wilshire rounded out the Osprey lineup in a tie for 69th at 160 following a second round 81.
Sophomore Nathalie Nygren, who is playing in the event as an individual, carded the team's top round on Tuesday with a 1-under 71. Nygren is currently tied for 8th at 147 in the individual medalist competition.
Daytona State vaulted to the top of the team standings at 596, after a second round 291. Elon and South Dakota State are tied for second at 597 while Murray State (599), Morehead State (601) and Western Kentucky (601) fill out the top five squads.
Daytona State's Ji Sun Kang owns a one-stroke advantage in the individual medalist competition with a 36-hole total of 3-under 141.
Tournament action in the Ocala Spring Invitational concludes with a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m.
