JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida women's basketball had No. 21/22 Florida Gulf Coast match its fewest point total in a game this season, but a cold night from the field resulted in the Ospreys falling 56-24 at UNF Arena during what was their last home game of the season.

UNF is just the second Atlantic Sun team to hold the Eagles to under 60 points. Stetson kept Florida Gulf Coast to 57 points on Jan. 10, but the Eagles still captured the win (57-55). Prior to Wednesday's game, Florida Gulf Coast had previously only scored a season-low 56 points against Wichita State on Nov. 27.

Paulina Zaveckaite registered a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double to lead the Ospreys.

UNF shot 18.2 percent (8-for-44), its lowest field-goal percentage of the season. The Ospreys were held scoreless from three-point range and only shot 50.0 percent (8-for-16) from the free throw line. Additionally, UNF's 24 points tied a program-low that was initially set at Miami on Nov. 9, 2012.

Kaneisha Atwater and Whitney Knight tallied 13 and 11 points, respectivley, for the Eagles. Katie Meador grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.

Florida Gulf Coast shot 36.5 percent (19-for-52) for the game and 22.7 percent (5-for-22) from long range. Both percentages were far lower than what the Eagles typically shot. Florida Gulf Coast entered Wednesday's game shooting 43.9 percent (687-for-1566) from the field and 35.8 percent (269-for-751) from long range.

The Eagles out-rebounded UNF 39-36.

Both teams had a tough start to the first half, but Florida Gulf Coast had a 7-0 lead at 13:58 after a Knight layup. UNF answered with a nine-point run and took a 9-7 lead at 10:10 on a Zaveckaite jumper. However, the Ospreys experienced a six-minute scoring drought that allowed the Eagles to go on a 12-0 run to take a 19-9 advantage at 4:33. Cari Whitmire's free throw at 4:05 ended the scoreless stretch, but two DyTiesha Dunson free throws at 2:34 was the first of six-straight Florida Gulf Coast points. UNF got a jumper from Kadesia Johnson at 1:12, which was the last basket of the half, and the Ospreys entered halftime trailing 25-12.

The second half had another slow start. Five minutes into the half, each team had one field goal made and Florida Gulf Coast also had one free throw made as the Eagles were up 28-14 at 15:01. The Eagles eventually built a 24-point cushion, going up 39-15 at 10:13, but chipped away and made it 39-19 at 9:06 on two Zaveckaite foul shots. Back-to-back layups allowed the Eagles to regain a 24-point advantage, but Zaveckaite sank a layup at 7:25 to make it 43-21. However, that was UNF's last field goal of the game as the remaining Osprey points came from free throws.

UNF finishes the regular season on Saturday at Stetson. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m., at the Edmunds Center.
