JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The North Florida basketball team dominated the second half of play against Lipscomb on Thursday night en route to a 93-78 victory at UNF Arena.

With the victory, the Ospreys (17-11, 9-2 ASun) not only established a new program record for wins in a season but also secured a home game for atleast the first round of the upcoming Atlantic Sun Conference tournament. In addition, the win gave UNF the season sweep over the Bisons (11-15, 5-6) and marked the eighth victory in the last nine meetings.

"I'm very happy for the guys and the fact that they are part of the winningest team in program history," said head coach Matthew Driscoll. "Our goal is not to have the most wins in a season but it is an awesome accomplishment for this group. I've extremely proud of how we played tonight and look forward for us to keep getting better over these final few regular season games. I thought the key for the game was our rebounding in the second half."

Dallas Moore finished with 21 points to lead a quartet of Ospreys in double digits, while three other UNF players ended the game within two points of double figures. In addition to Moore's strong performance, Chris Davenport added 18 points followed by 14 each from Beau Beech and Trent Mackey. Jalen Nesbitt had nine points and led the squad with a career best 11 rebounds along with five assists and four steals. Demarcus Daniels chipped in nine points and blocked three shots, moving to within seven of the UNF single season record.

Josh Williams scored 23 points to pace the Lipscomb attack.

The first half featured a pair of high powered offenses with both squads shooting over 50 percent from the floor. After some back-and-forth play to start the game, Lipscomb used a 12-1 run midway through the period to open up a double-digit advantage at 18-8 with 12 minutes left on the clock. The Bisons would maintain their lead and even extended it to a game high 14 at 41-27 with just over four minutes remaining.

The Ospreys would close the half with a 14-3 spurt to trim the deficit to just two points, 44-42, at the break. Davenport scored six points in the closing surge to help UNF recapture some of the momentum.

The game stayed close early in the second stanza with each team taking a turn with the lead. With 15 minutes left and Lipscomb leading 59-54, the Ospreys mounted a decisive charge outscoring LU, 15-2, to grab a double digit lead, 71-61, in just four minutes of action. Beech got the run started with back-to-back treys followed by layups from Moore and Daniels. Nesbitt drilled a three-pointer for UNF's 11th straight point before Lipscomb slowed the run with a layup. Davenport slammed rebounded a missed shot and Daniels converted another driving layup to finish the stretch.

UNF would build a lead a large as 17 and keep a double figure margin the rest of the contest. The Ospreys held Lipscomb to 34 points in the second half on 37 percent shooting while exploding for 51 points of their own. It marked the second game this season against the Bisons that UNF recorded 50-plus points in the closing half.

North Florida now concludes its weekend home stand on Saturday night against Northern Kentucky in UNF Arena at 7 p.m.
