Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

@OspreyWSOC Blanks NJIT 3-0 Friday in A-Sun Action

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The North Florida women's soccer team earned their second straight A-Sun win, defeating NJIT 3-0 Friday night at Hodges Stadium.

The Ospreys (4-8-0, 2-1-0 A-Sun) now sit in third place in the conference standings behind Lipscomb and FGCU.

"We had a really good week of training and we wanted to build off of the momentum of last week's win over Stetson. We worked a lot on possession and keeping the ball plus some attacking themes," said coach Robin Confer. "We knew we had two tough games this weekend and wanted to come out tonight and get a result. Now we focus on Lipscomb on Sunday."

The Ospreys got on the board in the ninth minute, when junior Kayla Aritt took a long pass over the middle from senior Lanie Keating, putting her in a one-on-one chance with the keeper. Aritt chipped the ball high, finding the top right of the net for the 1-0 lead.

The Ospreys doubled their lead in the 38th minute, when junior Kendall Pollock delivered a long pass down the right sideline, finding freshman Krista Colubiale in the box, Colubiale then fed it over to freshman Gabby Daudet, who found the net for her first career goal and a 2-0 lead.

The Ospreys pushed the lead to the eventual 3-0 final in the 55th minute, where senior Lanie Keating took advantage of a goal box scramble following a corner kick, punching in her second goal of the year from three yards out.

The Ospreys' defense stifled the Highlanders, holding NJIT to just four shots and a 17-4 shot advantage. North Florida also took the shots-on-target margin 4-0. Goalkeepers Susie Ford and Victoria Ekeli combined for the shutout win.

The Ospreys return to action in their final regular season home match against conference-leader Lipscomb Sunday at 1 p.m. at Hodges Stadium.

"Lipscomb is very organized defensively, they're a very solid unit so we need to be sharp in possession and try to break them down defensively. We are going to have to be at our best, they're going to be tough but I think we will be ready."

Sunday's match will feature live stats and a full recap will be available at UNFOspreys.com.
