NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The awards keep rolling in for North Florida outfielder Drew Weeks as he received First Team All-South Region and Second Team All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association today.
Weeks becomes the second Osprey in as many seasons to earn All-Region honors as former teammate Tyler Marincov was a second team honoree in 2013. He was named to his fourth All-America team, already being recognized by Baseball America, The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game.
The five-tool outfielder was selected in the seventh round by the Colorado Rockies in the MLB First Year Player Draft earlier this month. He has been assigned to the Tri-City Dust Devils in Pasco, Wash. where he has appeared in the first three games as a designated hitter.
The historic season littered Weeks' name all over the North Florida baseball record book. He set a new school record with a 31-game hit streak to begin the year. He led the nation with a .430 batting average, setting a new program mark. His 95 hits in 2014 are the most ever in North Florida's 27-year history.
