Box Score (PDF)FORT MYERS, Fla. – In the rubber game of a three-game, Atlantic Sun series, North Florida (17-23, 7-10 Atlantic Sun) fell by a score of 11-4 to Florida Gulf Coast University (25-15, 10-4 Atlantic Sun) this afternoon at Swanson Stadium.
FGCU starting pitcher Jack English limited the Osprey offense to just one run over six innings of work. He did not surrender a hit until the fourth inning. He allowed only one run in his third win of the season. English received more than enough run support as the Eagles scored 11 runs on 17 hits. A quartet of FGCU hitters put forth three-hit performances in the contest.
The Ospreys racked up 11 hits in the contest and have now recorded 10 or more hits in the last six games. Freshman
Patrick Ervin led the Ospreys with three hits, a run and an RBI. He finished the series going 6-for-9 with three RBIs.
Drew Weeks followed up his four-hit performance in game two with a 2-for-5 effort in today's contest. He was 9-for-15 against FGCU in the series.
Catcher Blake Berger got his 10
th start of the season and took advantage of the opportunity early. He was responsible for four of the first five runs of the game for FGCU thanks to an RBI single in the second and a two RBI triple in the fourth. He later scored on a wild pitch in a four-run Eagle rally in the fourth inning.
After the Ospreys scored their first run of the game in the top of the sixth, the Eagles tacked on four more runs in the sixth inning, opening up a 10-1 advantage. The Ospreys scored three runs in their final two turns at the plate but it would not be enough.

Trent Higginbothem singled home the Ospreys second run of the game, tallying his team-leading 34
th RBI of the season. A total of 27 of his 34 RBIs have come against Atlantic Sun opponents this season. The Ospreys scored two more runs in the ninth inning on a Weeks RBI groundout and a single through the left side by Ervin.
The Ospreys will not play in the mid-week and prepare for a three-game series against Stetson at Harmon Stadium this weekend. The opening game will take place on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
