NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The North Florida women's soccer team played all 110 minutes in a rainy night in Nashville, Tenn., but ultimately neither team managed to break the deadlock, ending in a 0-0 draw.
"Lipscomb is a great team and is having a good start to their season," said head coach
Robin Confer. "We knew we would have to be organized as a team."
The Ospreys (2-9-1, 0-1-1 A-Sun) recorded their first draw and shutout of the season. Their regular-season record at Lipscomb now sits at 4-0-2.
Senior goalkeeper
Megan Dorsey tallied a season-high 13 saves in her first shutout of the season and 11
th of her career.
"Dorsey once again had a great game and a well-deserved shutout," added Confer. "We created a couple good chances late but I still think we can be a little smarter and cleaner in the final third."
North Florida had their best chances to score late in regulation and in the second overtime period. Towards the end of the second half, junior
Lanie Keating delivered a long strike which ricocheted off of the cross bar, and the Bisons defender was able to get a touch on the ball before freshman
Hanna Parado had a chance to find the net.
In the 105
th minute, senior
Jill Holdsworth delivered a well-placed corner kick into the box, but the Bisons defense was able to clear the ball away after saving a
Jenna Steininger shot.
The Bisons (7-4-2, 1-0-1 A-Sun) led in both the shot advantage (26-14) and shots on goal advantage (13-6).
The Ospreys travel to Highland Heights, Ky., for a Sunday noon matchup with the Norse of Northern Kentucky.
"Now our focus is on NKU and getting the team prepared and ready for Sunday," concluded Confer.
