Men’s Soccer Plays Embry-Riddle Even in Exhibition

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team opened up the exhibition season with a 0-0 draw on the road against Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Saturday night.
“I thought we played very well tonight,” head coach Derek Marinatos stated after the match. “I am extremely pleased with the players, the staff, everyone. There are some things we still need to work on, but I thought we played extremely well as a team.”
One the night, the Ospreys had several opportunities to score. Alex Morrell's shot off of a pass from Jean Rivaroli hit the post. In addition, Mauricio Valderruten had a late one-on-one break away but his shot was just off the mark.
The tandem of Brad Sienkiewicz and Kyle Nasta held the home team scoreless for the combined shutout.
North Florida returns to the pitch with an exhibition match against Rollins College at Hodges Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 7:00 p.m.
