JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida women's tennis powered its way to a 5-0 sweep of Lipscomb on Saturday during Senior Day at the UNF Tennis Complex. It was the final home match for seniors
Aline Berkenbrock and
Danielle Day.
The Ospreys swept the doubles competition in order to go up 1-0 early in the match. No. 78 Berkenbrock and
Lorena Aviles cruised to an 8-1 win over Deahna Welcher and Jenny Borck at No. 1 doubles.
Simona Weymar and
Rebeca Pereira shutout Danielle Hansen and Elizabeth Keevil 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. Day and Aguirre posted an 8-1 No. 3 doubles win over Samantha Bowman and Alyssa Bellini.
In singles, Berkenbrock posted a 6-0, 6-1 No. 1 singles win over Bellini, while Day took a 6-1, 6-3 No. 3 singles win against Borck. Weymar cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win against Hansen at No. 5 doubles and
Marina Cunningham blanked Bowman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Both the matches at No. 2 and No. 4 singles went unfinished. At No. 2 singles,
Lorena Aviles was up 6-0, 3-0 on Welcher. Aguirre led Keevil 6-1, 2-0 at No. 4 singles.
UNF closes out the regular season next weekend with two road matches. The Ospreys' road trip begins on Friday at Kennesaw State at Noon.
