Women's Tennis Downs Stetson, 6-1, to Remain Undefeated in A-Sun Play

DeLAND, Fla. – University of North Florida women's tennis picked up its sixth-straight win on Saturday, defeating Stetson 6-1 at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center in order to improve to 10-4 on the season and 5-0 in the Atlantic Sun.
 
UNF swept the doubles competition and started the day with a 1-0 lead. No. 78 Aline Berkenbrock and Lorena Aviles posted an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles over Sara Lazarevic and MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell. At No. 2 doubles, Simona Weymar and Rebeca Pereira held on for an 8-5 win against Diana Bukajeva and Jen Miller. Danielle Day and Melanie Aguirre cruised to an 8-2 No. 3 doubles victory over Lindsey Cable and Shannon Gunning.
 
In singles, Berkenbrock powered her way to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lazarevic at No. 1, while Aviles downed Gunning 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2. Day, who had the match clinching point, picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win against Carke Tatje at No. 3. Weymar posted a 7-6, 6-4 win over Bukajeva at No. 4 singles and Marina Cunningham took a 6-2, 6-3 No. 6 singles match from Miller.
 
Stetson's only point of the day was at No. 5 singles with Cable defeating Pereira 6-2, 6-2.
 
UNF returns to action next weekend at the UNF Tennis Complex in what will be the final home weekend of the season for the Ospreys. UNF will host two matches at the UNF Tennis Complex next weekend, starting on Friday with Belmont at 10 a.m.
