JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Sophomore Brianna Frazier took first place in the 400m to highlight a rain-shortened second day of competition at the Best Western/UNF Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
After weather delayed the beginning of the day's events by almost four hours, only a portion of the schedule was able to be completed before a second storm front moved in and forced an end to the festivities immediately after the women's 400m.
Frazier's time of 53.56 was the fastest recorded in the Atlantic Sun this year by almost three seconds and the fourth fastest in all of Division I to date. She was joined in the top ten by junior Jaybria Calcote, who clocked a 56.62.
Junior Jasmine Jackson (14.39) and freshman Christina Johnson (14.49) each competed in the finals of the 100m hurdles, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively. Junior Jennifer Smyth earned a top-ten finish of her own in the triple jump, with a mark of 11.78m (38-7 3/4).
Freshman Alyssa Brandt recorded a new personal record in the 800m, clocking a 2:15.98 to finish 17th.
On the men's side, junior Cameron Dickerson led the way again, breaking the school record in the 800m with a 1:51.40, good for fourth place. Though he already owned the fastest 800m time in the A-Sun for the year, this performance increased his lead over second place to more than a second.
Junior James Post also turned in a top-ten finish in the 800m, clocking a 1:55.14 to finish ninth.
Sophomore Dante Bouldin turned in a new personal best during the finals of the 110m hurdles, finishing in 15.33 to take 14th place. Freshman Stephen Krupa took fifth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.92m (6-3 1/2).
In the javelin, sophomore David Shepherd grabbed 11th with a throw of 43.87m (143-11), while sophomore Ryan L'Heureux set a new personal record at 33.94m (111-4), good for 14th.
Complete results for the second day, as well as results for all UNF competitors, can be found at the attached links.
The UNF track and field teams will next be in action on April 6 when they split up and travel to Tampa, Fla. for the South Florida Invitational and Gainesville, Fla. for the Florida Relays.
