Buerchner, Nemcsek Advance to Semis at ITA Southeast Regionals

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Senior Moritz Buerchner and sophomore Norbert Nemcsek advanced to the semifinals of the doubles bracket at the 2012 USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Saturday.
Buerchner and Nemcsek battled to an 8-6 victory in the quarterfinals over Jordan Kelly-Houston and Anderson Reed of Florida State, the sixth-seeded team in the bracket. Buerchner and Nemcsek are seeded third in the 44-pairing tournament. The four top seeds in the doubles bracket make up tomorrow's semifinals, scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
Buerchner also won his morning singles match, battling for a three-set victory over Marco Nunez of Georgia, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. In the third round, however, Buerchner fell to the top-seeded player in the bracket, Bob van Overbeek, 3-6, 5-7.
Senior Pedro Davisson suffered a tough loss in the morning's second round, 3-6, 3-6, to Benjamin Lock of Florida State, the fifth-seeded player in the tournament. Nemcsek also fell to a seeded opponent, dropping his second-round match Saturday morning to Wilfredo Gonzales of Miami, 2-6, 1-6.
