JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida plays its second-straight road game on Tuesday evening when the Ospreys take on USF at the USF Recreation Center in Tampa.
UNF comes off a 68-59 competitive loss at Ole Miss in the season opener on Friday. After leading by as many as 12, the Ospreys hit a costly scoring draught in the first half that allowed Ole Miss to take the lead. The Rebels held a 16-point advantage in the second half, but UNF went on a 14-4 run to pull to within five with a 1:18 to go.
Brittany Kirkland paced the Ospreys' scoring efforts with 14 points. Larkira Jones grabbed 10 rebounds, while Fabiola Josil dished out eight assists. Josil was also second on the team in scoring (nine points) and rebounds (seven boards).
USF opened the season at the WBI Tip-Off Classic in Daytona Beach, going 1-2 on the weekend. The Bulls fell to No. 14 Florida State (62-49) and Arkansas (65-61 in overtime) before defeating Minnesota, 60-52. Four players average double-digits in scoring for the Bulls, including Caitlin Rowe (12.7 ppg). Rowe also leads the team in rebounds (8.0 rpg).
This will be the sixth meeting between UNF and USF. The Bulls have won the previous five meetings, including last year's 68-35 win at the Sun Dome in Tampa.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
