JACKSONVILLE, Fla.The University of North Florida volleyball team posted nine more kills than Campbell, but the Camel's defense was strong as they picked up the 3-1 (25-11, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20) win in Atlantic Sun action on Saturday afternoon at the Pope Center in Buies Creek, N.C.

The Ospreys put up 51 kills in the match to just 42 by the Camels. UNF also notched 68 digs to just 58 from Campbell. The Camels led in blocks, however, with 15, while the Ospreys had three.

Freshman outside hitter Paige Pridgeon led the Ospreys (10-18, 4-14 A-Sun) with a match-high 21 kills. She also tallied 11 digs in the match for her ninth double-double of the season and her fourth in the past five matches. Junior middle blocker Kaley Read added 13 kills in the match and junior outside hitter Nallelis Sanfeliz had seven kills. Junior setter Jessica Catelano had 39 assists. Freshman libero Nicole Baran tallied 21 digs on the defensive side.

“Paige, Kaley and Nallelis all had strong matches on the offensive side for us,” said head coach Kevin Campbell. “Our offense was good, but Campbell was able to come back at us with some good defensive plays. For us on defense Nicole had a great match, she picked up some great digs for us.”

Leading the Camels (17-12, 10-8 A-Sun) was Ashley Weers with 14 kills. Emily Werner had 10 kills while Paige Tortorello notched 29 assists. Lauren Garza had a match leading 22 digs.

Campbell controlled most of the first set with the Ospreys unable to get any offense going early in the match as the Camels picked up the 25-11 win.

In the second set the two teams kept the score close early and were tied at 14 before Campbell went on a run to take a 19-14 lead. UNF responded to close the lead to one, at 21-20, off a service ace from Catelano. The Ospreys were behind by one at 23-22, but back-to-back kills from Werner gave the Camels the points to take the set 25-22 and a 2-0 lead in the match.

UNF took the early lead in the third set, going up 11-5. The Camels would get no closer than three at 23-20. A serving error by Campbell followed by a kill from Pridgeon secured the set for the Ospreys, 25-20.

The two teams traded points to open the fourth set until Campbell went on a run to take an 18-10 lead. UNF wouldn't back down though and responded with a run of its own to close the gap to three at 20-18. The Camels extended their lead to 23-18. UNF would score a couple more points, but Campbell closed out the set to take the 25-20 win, securing the match.
