“We had two solid performances from both our teams, “said head coach Mark VanAlstyne. “We were very competitive through out the day especially the women who only finished 4 points behind the next team. This is a huge step in the right direction for our program.”
Freshman Shelby Kittrell put up a season best time of 18:02 in the 5k race, shaving 11 seconds from the Hatter Invitational two weeks earlier. Along with her fourth place finish, Kittrell was garnered Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Conference and to the All-Freshman Team accolades.

Freshmen Meggie Emons and Melanie Novack were recognized as A-Sun All-Freshman for their performances, helping UNF to 84 total points. Emons (18:40) and Novack (18:54) placed 18th and 22nd out of the 85 runners.
The last Osprey to be nominated to the All-Freshman Team was Hillary Adams in 2006.
