JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida women's tennis team was one tiebreaker away from possibly ending its season on a soaring note, but the Ospreys couldn't capture the crucial doubles point in a 5-2 loss to Jacksonville on Tuesday.

UNF (11-11, 8-3 Atlantic Sun Conference) fell behind 1-0 in the match after JU was able to clinch the doubles point. The Dolphins (16-4, 10-1) picked up the win in the No. 1 match when Tatiana Soldatova and Iva Jaresova defeated juniors Carolina Melo and Natalia Sanchez 8-6.

Senior Vanessa Sanchez and junior Ina Durcakova teamed up to knot the doubles competition at one apiece, recording an 8-4 victory over JU's Lena Willi and Fernanda Carrero in the No. 2 match. Sanchez capped her career with a perfect 3-0 doubles record against the Dolphins.

The No. 3 doubles match was hotly contested and evenly matched, with neither team wanting to give an inch. Finally JU's Lina Xu and Juliana Umeki emerged to defeat freshman Victoria Krook and junior Maria Melihova, 9-8 (5).

JU was able to capitalize on the 1-0 advantage and take care of business in the singles matches. The Dolphins won the Nos. 1-4 matches to wrap up the victory.

Krook and Melo were UNF's only singles winners. Krook took down Jaresova in the No. 5 match, 6-0, 2-1 (retired), while Melo defeated Carrero, 6-1, 6-3, in the No. 6 singles match.

The Dolphins picked up a point in the SunTrust River City Rumble with the win. UNF wrapped up third place in the A-Sun and capped their season winning four of the last six.
