Ospreys set for 2008 home opener

UNF to face Bethune-Cookman, South Alabama, Troy this week
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's tennis team will play its 2008 home opener on Tuesday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex when it plays host to Bethune- Cookman. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
The Ospreys have upended the Wildcats in each of the last two seasons - winning 7-0 at UNF in 2006 and 6-1 in Daytona Beach last season.
Following its home opener, UNF will then take to the road for a pair of tough matches in the state of Alabama. The Ospreys play at 27th-ranked South Alabama on Friday and then travel to Troy on Saturday. Both matches are doubleheaders with the women's squad.

Who's Hot: Senior Eduardo Pereira has been the strongest player for the Ospreys thus far, tallying a 10-3 singles record in tournament play and through the team's first dual match against Georgia Southern on Jan. 27 (a 5-2 loss) ... Pereira and Kurt Gattiker have been the squad's most consisent tandem in doubles, posting a 4-0 mark to this point.
UNF Notables: After its swing through Alabama, the Ospreys will play six consecutive home matches in February and March, including a matchup with 75th-ranked College of Charleston on Feb. 24 ... the tournament matchups have been set for the Wichita State Invitational in March, with the Ospreys set to square off against Oral Roberts on March 14, Arkansas-Little Rock on March 15 and Wichita State on March 16 ... the UNF squad is now down to seven players after the departure of Andres Monje over the Christmas break.
