UNF drops non-conference tilt

Madie Belvin notches 24 assists on UNF's 29 kills

Box Score

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior Agata Dawidowicz finished with double-digit kills for the second-straight match, but it was not enough to lead the University of North Florida women's volleyball team as it fell 3-0 (16-25, 23-25, 22-25) on Saturday at UNF Arena.

Dawidowicz tallied a match-high 13 kills, while sophomore Marshay Greenlee hit a team- best .308 (5-1-13) for the match and had a match-high four blocks. But UNF (8-10) could not get a consistent string of momentum going, hitting .057 for the match compared to Seattle's (8-14) mark of .212.

Sophomore Madie Belvin had a solid match for the Lady Ospreys, notching 24 assists on UNF's 29 kills and recording seven digs.

Freshman Shawna Metcalf's kill early the first set helped UNF knot the score at four, but the Redhawks used a 6-2 run to go up 10-6. The Lady Ospreys were able to get as close as three, but Seattle again went on another run to seal the match.

The second set was action-packed with each team staying neck-and-neck with each other and no team grabbing more than a two-point lead. Dawidowicz shined in the second set with five kills. UNF looked poised to deadlock the match when it took a 20-19 lead on a kill from Greenlee and a Belvin assist, but the Redhawks scored the next three points to give them enough of a cushion to take a 2-0 match advantage.

Dawidowicz slammed down four kills in the third set to lead the Lady Ospreys in an intense third set. UNF took a seemingly impenetrable 17-14 lead late in the set, but two Lady Osprey errors aided Seattle in going on a 4-0 run to snatch the lead. UNF kept right at the heels of the Redhawks and pulled to within 21- 20 on a kill by Read, but Seattle was able to edge out UNF, winning four of the last six points.

Freshman Lizzy Manno finished with a team-high nine digs, while the Lady Ospreys had five team blocks. UNF also put up eight service aces.

The Lady Ospreys will return to action at 7:30 p.m. against Belmont in Nashville, Tenn., for an Atlantic Sun Conference match. Live stats will be available on UNFOspreys.com.
