Feb. 17, 2007

Box Score

NEW ORLEANS - The University of North Florida baseball team wasn't able to withstand a barrage of hitting from No. 22 Tulane, as the Ospreys dropped a 20-5 game to the Green Wave on Saturday at Zephyr Field.

UNF (0-6) pitching allowed 18 hits and three walks while striking out three. Starting RHP Tyler Stohr only lasted two innings and allowing six earned runs on seven hits. He was knocked out in the bottom of third, an inning that saw the Green Wave score 12 runs and bat around. Tucker Pryor and Derek Bell weren't able to fare much better in relief, allowing a combined 11 earned runs on eight hits.

Josh Maxwell and Mike Gottlieb were able to stop the bleeding, combining to pitch the final five innings, with Maxwell allowing the only earned run. Gottlieb allowed just two hits in three innings of work and struck out one.

The Ospreys put the pressure on Tulane right off the bat when Damon Olinto's double down the right field line drove in TJ Thompson to give UNF a 1-0 lead after the top of the first. UNF was then held scoreless until the top of the ninth when Brandon Diaz hit a two-out double to the wall in right center that drove in three runs, but it was much too less to overcome Tulane's big lead.

UNF will close out the three-game series with the Green Wave tomorrow at 2 p.m. Live stats are available free of charge on UNFOspreys.com.
