Final Stats

TAMPA, Fla.
- The University of North Florida women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (18-30, 14-30, 24-30) non-conference match to South Florida on Tuesday in front of a raucous crowd at The Corral.

Senior Maegan Weisert led UNF (4-21) with eight kills and nine digs. Junior Bary Rasmussen and freshman Marshay Greenlee each tallied seven kills, while senior Claire Yonutas and junior Nikki Prock each recorded 10 digs. The Lady Ospreys hit .068 for the night.

Game one didn't start out as the Lady Ospreys wanted, with USF jumping out to a 19-1 lead. But UNF fought back to make things competitive by going on a 9-2 run that was highlighted by two Rasmussen kills to cut USF's lead to 22-10.

The Lady Ospreys outscored the Bulls over the next 14 points 8-6 to pull to within 29-18, but a service error by Read allowed USF to take a 1-0 match lead. UNF hit -.111 and committed 13 errors in the game but led in digs 20-19.

The second game began more favorably for UNF, with the Lady Ospreys keeping it neck-and-neck before tying it up at 10. But from there, the Bulls grabbed the momentum and coasted on a 9-1 run to go up 19-11. The Lady Ospreys weren't able to find an answer to USF's Marcela Gurgel, who had six kills in the game, and were outscored 11-3 the rest of the way to fall behind in the match 2-0.

Weisert churned out four kills and four digs in the game along with a .375 hitting percentage. Greenlee broke out and hit .500 with three kills.

UNF put forth a hard battle in the third game and put the pressure on in the early going, allowing USF with just a 7-6 lead. But the Bulls went on to go up by as many as 10 at 28-18. The Lady Ospreys, however, weren't done fighting and cut the USF lead to 29-24 on a run that was highlighted by kills from freshman Madeline Belvin and Greenlee. But the Bulls were able to seal the match on the next play on an attack error by Yonutas.

The Lady Ospreys will return to action at 7 p.m. on Friday to take on cross-town rival Jacksonville in the SunTrust River City Rumble. The match will be played at JU's Swisher Gymnasium and will be aired live on ASun.TV.
