JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida's Maegan Weisert tallied her 12th double-double of the season - collecting 13 kills and 10 digs - to lead the Lady Ospreys past Bethune-Cookman on the first day of the UNF-JU Invitational at Jacksonville University on Friday.
Amy Stroder and Allison O'Neill each added 11 kills as UNF (9-10) upended the Wildcats (3-4) for the second time this season.
The Lady Ospreys hit .315 as a team and tallied 56 kills, while Bethune-Cookman hit just .027 with just 25 kills.
"We played solid and got good performances out of our outside hitters," UNF head coach Bryan Bunn said. "We took care of business and maintained our energy level for the entire match. Every win is a good one."
UNF fell behind 7-2 in the opening game but stormed back from there - outscoring the Wildcats 12-2 move in front and take control, eventually winning the opener 30-19. The Lady Ospreys jumped out to an 11-5 lead in game two and cruised to the finish with another 30-19 victory. The final in game three was 30-18.
Terra Wagner and Vonetta Simpson each finished with seven kills to lead BCC.
UNF returns to action on Saturday when it faces Division II power and future Atlantic Sun Conference foe Florida Gulf Coast at JU's Swisher Gymnasium. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
