Box Score

DeLAND, Fla. - The University of North Florida volleyball team earned a 3-0 (30-24, 30-21, 30-28) win over Stetson in its first ever Atlantic Sun Conference match on Friday afternoon, rallying from a late deficit in game three to extend its season winning streak to four games in the conference opener for both teams.

Senior Kelly Kazmierczak - a DeLand native - impressed the hometown crowd by continuing her impressive play of late, tallying 13 kills and 11 digs, to lead the Lady Ospreys (7-6, 1-0 A-Sun). As a team, UNF hit .264, while Stetson (4-9, 0-1 A-Sun) hit just .156.

"We played well in first two games and let down a little in the third game," UNF head coach Bryan Bunn said. "We came back at the end, though, so I was proud of our effort. Anytime you can go on the road and win, especially as much as we have been on the road lately, it is a good thing. We'll take it."

The Lady Ospreys fell behind in the opening game and trailed 16-13 before a 6-0 rally pushed them in front for good. A pair of Jennifer King points fueled the effort as the Lady Ospreys hit .261 with 18 kills. In game two, UNF jumped ahead 18-11 and never looked back as Kazmierczak led the way with six kills.

Game three provided UNF's toughest test. The Lady Ospreys came from behind to post only their second three-game sweep this season after Stetson jumped out to an early advantage. The Hatters led 20-16 when UNF began its final push. Amy Stroder provided a spark off the bench with three key points to pull UNF within 21-20, and back-to-back finishes by Kazmierczak and Heather Kendrick finally pushed UNF in front 25-24 a short time later. The Lady Ospreys didn't trail again.

Magen Wood had 10 kills for UNF and hit .273, while Emily Kohler recorded 16 digs. Freshman setter Heather Kendrick finished with 43 assists and seven kills to pace the UNF attack. DeeAnn Dempsey had 13 kills to lead the Hatters.

The win was UNF's 61st consecutive in regular-season conference play, with the first 60 victories coming when UNF was a member of the Division II Peach Belt Conference. UNF's last loss in conference play came in 2000 to Armstrong Atlantic.

The Lady Ospreys will return from for the first time since Sept. 7 on Tuesday when they play host to Bethune-Cookman at UNF Arena. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
