UNF cruises past No. 15 Northwood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- In a battle between two highly-ranked opponents, the University of North Florida women's tennis team came out blazing, capturing an 8-1 win over No. 15 Northwood (Mich.)

The win gives the No. 9 Lady Ospreys their sixth- consecutive victory, improving their season record to 15-3.

Already up 2-1 after doubles, UNF was able to defeat Northwood's two ranked players in straight sets. No. 35 Yevgeniya Barysheva defeated No. 39 Sue Rossano at the No. 1 position, as Liliana Hung took out No. 49 Kristina Bogdanovic at the No. 2 spot.

With the win, Hung has now defeated five ranked opponents en route to a 23-4 overall singles mark. She has posted a 16-1 mark in her last 17 matches, with her only loss coming to No. 20 Greta Trotman of Barry.

"I feel like our team has gained a lot of confidence since coming off our conference road trip," UNF head coach Tom Schrader said. "All the girls are much more confident than a month ago, as everyone has stepped up their play."

The Lady Ospreys will take on Division I opponent Jacksonville on April 6 at 2 p.m., and will close out the regular season at home against Armstrong Atlantic State on April 7 at 2 p.m.
