Baseball Announces Signing Class

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team and head coach Smoke Laval announced the signing of nine players to the 2012 roster. The commitments for the upcoming baseball season include Nick Allbritton, Spencer Brown, Andrew Del Colle, Spencer Herrmann, Evan Incinelli, Bryan Mathews, Michael Renner, Drew Weeks and Joe Wielbruda.
Allbritton is a junior college transfer who played two seasons at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Fla. He made 41 appearances on the mound for the Commodores with six starts, tossing 82.1 innings and fanning 72 batters in two seasons. Allbritton posted four wins with 11 saves and helped GCCC to a 41-12 (.774) record as a freshman. In high school, he lettered at Taylor County High School in Perry, Fla. Allbritton was a three-time All-Area selection. He tossed 105.2 innings in his final two seasons, recording 120 strikeouts compared to just 51 walks with a 2.72 earned run average with 10 victories. Allbritton played in the field for three seasons, boasting a .390 career batting average with 74 runs scored, 94 hits, 22 doubles, five triples, seven home runs, 70 runs batted in and 14 stolen bases. He had a career-high .442 batting average as a junior, batting above .350 each season. Allbritton also lettered in golf for four seasons, helping the Bulldogs to the District Championship in 2007 and 2008. He was a member of the Albany A's Travel Team in Albany, Ga., helping the team claim the 2004 13U Simply the Best World Series Championship. In addition, Allbritton excelled in the classroom finishing his career as an honor student.
Brown lettered at Allen D. Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, Fla., leading the Panthers to the 2011 District Championship. He was tabbed First Team All-District, All-Area and All-Region as a junior and senior. Brown was named Team MVP in 2010 and Team Best Defensive Player in 2011. He boasted top five ERA in the area in 2010 and 2011 and had a 7-to-1 strikeout to walk ration in his career. Brown had the lowest ERA in north Florida as a freshman and senior. He was named top 100 North Florida College Baseball Recruit. Brown boasted a 0.52 ERA as a junior and a 0.63 ERA as a senior with six victories and 10 saves to his credit. He pitched a complete game against Ponte Vedra, surrendering one run en route to a win, striking out seven of the final eight batters.
Prior to joining North Florida, Del Colle attended Boston College before transferring to Panola College in Carthage, Texas. He was named the No. 5 Junior College Player in the Country according to Baseball America. Del Colle is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In high school, he was a four-year letterwinner at Newark Academy in Livingston, N.J., leading the Minutemen to the Conference Championship and Sectional Championship in 2007. Del Colle helped Newark Academy to the postseason each year of high school and was named First Team All-State as a senior and Second Team All-State as a sophomore. He was tabbed All-District, All-Area and All-Region twice. Del Colle tossed his best game against Glen Ridge HS, working seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out 18. In addition to baseball, he also played basketball, lettering for four years and being named All-Region, All-District and Team MVP. Del Colle was named Conference Basketball Player of the Year and 1,000 Point Scorer, finishing his career with 1,164 points, averaging a double-double on the hardwood (22.0 points per game with 10.6 rebounds per game) and helping the Minutemen to four consecutive Conference Championships. Del Colle was drafted in the 16th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Herrmann was a four-year letterwinner at Mandarin High School, leading the Mustangs to the 2010 Gateway Championship, 2010 Regional Championship and 2011 District Champion. He was named First Team All-Area as a senior and Second Team All-Area as a junior. Herrmann participated in the Area Code Games in Long Beach, Calif. and the Southeast High School All-Star Game. He hit .449 in his career with 54 doubles, two triples and seven home runs with a career-best 26 doubles with a career-high .675 batting average as a freshman. Herrmann hit the game-winning home run against Fletcher High School at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and hit a three-run home run against Deltona High School, finishing the game 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk.
Incinelli was a four-year letterwinner at Winter Park High School, helping the Wildcats advance to the playoffs as a freshman, sophomore and junior. He advanced to the District Quarterfinals as a junior, District Semifinals as a freshman and the Regional Semifinals as a sophomore. Incinelli helped WPHS to a win over Freedom to advance to the District Championship in 2009. He lists his best game against Edgewater, tossing 3.2 innings with nine strikeouts. Incinelli was an honor student who was a member of the National Honor Society for science, math and social studies, boasting a 3.95 GPA in high school. Both of Incinelli's older brothers, Matt (1999-02) and Jared (2003-06), played baseball for North Florida with Matt playing in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and Jared playing in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization. His brother Matt was a 2010 inductee into the North Florida Hall of Fame.
Mathews lettered at Mandarin High School, helping the Mustangs to a 48-26 record in his first three seasons. He hit .246 with 10 runs, 15 hits, five doubles, a home run and 10 RBI as a sophomore, while posting a 4-0 record with a 2.17 ERA in 19.1 innings with 23 strikeouts compared to just nine walks. As a junior, Mathews batted .301 with 22 runs scored, 25 hits, seven doubles, a triple, three home runs and 21 RBI, while recording a 5.35 ERA in 18.1 innings with 22 strikeouts. He lists best game against Arlington Country Day, where he belted a three-run home run in the bottom of the 10th to tie the game, finishing 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI; also pitched the final seven innings – seventh through the 14th – for the win.
Renner is a junior college transfer who played at College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was named First Team All-Region as a freshman. In 2010, Renner made 15 appearances on the mound with 15 starts to his credit, hurled seven complete games, working 90.1 innings with 76 strikeouts and 18 walks, boasting a 2.09 ERA. He lettered at Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, Calif., leading the Chancellors to the 2007, 2008 and 2009 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) City Championships. Renner helped CHS to a 119-16 (.881) overall record in four years. He was named First Team All-State and First Team All-District as a senior and Second Team All-District as a junior and tabbed CIF City Player of the Year in 2009. Renner threw a two hitter in the 2009 Finals against Cleveland High School at Dodger Stadium.
Weeks lettered at Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, Fla., leading the Blue Devils to a 64-24 (.727) record in four years. He was named First Team All-State as a senior and First Team All-District as a junior and senior. Weeks was a member of the 2011 Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) North All-Star Team. He was named Team MVP in 2011 and Defensive MVP in 2010. Weeks hit .395 in his final three seasons of high school, recording 66 hits, 52 runs scored, 22 doubles, three triples, eight home runs and 54 RBI. He went 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs as a senior against Menendez High School. Weeks also played football in high school. He was a member of the Creek Baseball Club (CBC) Riverhawks and CBC Storm. Weeks was an honor student and a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. He was drafted in the 29th (879th overall pick) in the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Chicago Cubs.
Wielbruda is a junior college transfer who attended Midland College in Midland, Texas, helping the Chaparrals to 67 wins in two seasons. He was named First Team All-Western Junior College Athletic Conference. Wielbruda was tabbed Midland College Most Outstanding Defensive Player. He boasted a .428 batting average as a freshman and a .429 clip as a sophomore and, in two seasons, recorded 165 hits, 97 runs scored, 26 doubles, and three triples with 52 RBI. Wielbruda lettered at Youngstown Ursuline High School, leading the Fighting Irish to the District Championships (2006, 2007, 2008), Regionals Championships (2006, 2007), State Semifinals (2007) and State Finals (2006). He was named First Team All-Area as a sophomore, junior and senior and tabbed Most Valuable Player of the 2006 Ohio State Championship game by WNIO 1390 Radio. Wielbruda was a member of the R&J Trucking Summer Ball team, helping his team to the League Championship in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He was named to the All-Defensive Team in 2007 at the Babe Ruth World Series (17 & 18 Year Old Division). Wielbruda also played for the Yuma Scorpions in 2009, helping the team to the 2009 Arizona Winter League Championship and boasting the third highest batting average in the winter league (.453).
