JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced today that UNF swept the weekly Atlantic Sun Women's Track and Field honors with sophomore Christina King earning the field honor and junior Charisma Anderson earning the track accolade.
In the UNF Spring Break Invitational, Anderson helped the Ospreys break one school record and just missed a second. The 4x100-meter relay team broke North Florida's school record with a time of 46.59, with Anderson running the second leg of the race. The Tallahassee, Fla., native also ran the third leg as part of the winning 4x400m relay team, as UNF posted a season-best 3:49.05, just off the school record.
Anderson also captured the 200m with a personal best 24.62, and took third place in the finals of the 100m with a time of 12.14, just hundredths of a second off of her time of 12.08 that she ran the day before in the prelims.
“Charisma had a phenomenal meet,” said UNF head coach Mark VanAlstyne. “She has worked very hard both on the track and in the weight room and is very deserving of this award. She has earned it.”
King earned her weekly award by setting the school record in the vault, posting a second-place finish with a vault of 3.65-meters (just under 12 feet)
“She continues to amaze us,” said VanAlstyne, of King. “She has been vaulting for less than six months and already has a conference title (2009 A-Sun Indoor). It truly is amazing and she is only going to continue to get better.”
